Norma K. Mcgilvra

Graveside services for Norma K. McGilvra, 85, of Lufkin will be held Saturday, May 21, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. in the Old Union Cemetery with Brother Horace Fletcher officiating.

Mrs. McGilvra was born January 14, 1931 in Newton, Texas to the late Thornton Clarence Deane and Katherine Francis (Fondren)Deane and died Monday, May 16, 2016 in a local hospital.

Mrs. McGilvra had resided in Lufkin for most of her life. She was of the Protestant faith. Her career included working as a private secretary and in charge of the Order Desk for Perkins-Goodwin Co., Inc., Sales Agents for Southland Paper Mill. She also performed as a Taxpayer Service Representative with the Internal Revenue Service and later as a steno-clerk and reporter for formal investigations for Southern Pacific Railroad Co., Lufkin, Texas. In her young adult years, Norma K. was an active member of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority of Lufkin. She also had a passion for designing clothing and writing poetry. She was affectionately known as “KK” to her beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was truly loved and will be dearly missed by her “Three Little Angels”…until we meet again.

Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Lisa Kay McGilvra Mahan and James Boyd of Austin and Gina McGilvra Sawyer and Joe Kelley of Richardson; daughter, Pam L. McGilvra of Lufkin; grandchildren, Richard Brandon Bingham and fianceé, Kellie Adams, Ashley Kay Guerra and husband Roel Omar, Ryan Paul Bingharn, Matthew Boyd Mahan, Kelley Jo Sawyer, Stone McGilvra Sawyer, Rhett Ownby Sawyer; great-grandchildren, Braidon Scott, Lillie Lee, Roel Wyatt, Lane Chisholm, Remingtynn Kay; sister, Shirley Ruth Deane; brother, David Alan Deane of Missouri City; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Bratton of Houston, Bobbie McGilvra of Bellevue and Frances McGilvra of Diboll; nephews, Richard Lee Deane and Michael Albert Deane; niece, Sarina Lynn Deane; cousins, Dorothy Deane of Miami, Florida and Darrell Fondren of Beaumont number of other nieces, nephews, cousins, and other family members.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Paul Raymond McGilvra; sister-in-law, Florence Womack; brothers-in-law, Billy McGilvra and John McGilvra.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home.
