Funeral services for Ricky Van Hampton, 56, of Lufkin will be held Wednesday, May 18, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Stephen Willis and Rickey Stanford officiating. Interment will follow in the Whitehouse Cemetery. Mr. Hampton was born September 4, 1959 in Houston, Texas to the late Jerry D. Hampton and Leda F. Rosson and died Monday, May 16, 2016 at his residence in Lufkin. Mr. Hampton had resided in Lufkin for most of his life. He was employed at Lufkin Industries as a Quality Assurance Technician. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and could always be found rescuing stray animals. He loved to help the area youth with the Angelina County Youth Fair. Mr. Hampton was a Deacon and a Song Director at Fuller Springs Missionary Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Tammy Hampton of Lufkin; daughters and sons-in-law, Sarah and Jason Vest and Emily and Chad Murray, all of Lufkin; grandson, Caleb Murray of Lufkin; brothers, Danny Hampton and Jeff Hampton of Houston; step-mother, Edwina Hampton of Lufkin; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Ronald and Sandy Carswell of Pass Christian, Mississippi, Gary and Cindy Carswell of Huntington, Don and Sue Carswell of Orange, Randy and Katrina Carswell of Lufkin, Tommy and Mercedes Carswell of Lufkin; best friend, Rickey Stanford of Zavalla; also a host of nieces, nephews, and other loved ones. He was preceded in death by his father, Jerry Dan Hampton; mother, Leda Faye Rosson; grandparents, Daniel Webster and Addie Sarah Hampton; William and Rose Rosson; mother-in-law, Erma “Toodie” Ruth Johnson; father-in-law, Gabriel “Shorty” Vaughn Carswell; nephew, Daryl Heth Carswell; and uncle, Gene Liggin. Pallbearers will be Mark Ferden, Mike Dowdy, Rickey Stanford, Ray Brown, Gary Carswell, and Tommy Carswell. Honorary pallbearers will be Hughlen Rayburn and Jim Woods. Memorial contributions may be made to the Fuller Springs Baptist Church Memorial Fund, 5003 Fuller Springs Drive, Lufkin, Texas 75901. The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
