Funeral services for Mary Lee Taylor, 91, of Lufkin will be held Tuesday, May 17, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Pat Jones and Eulogist, James Johnson officiating. Interment will follow in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park. Mrs. Taylor was born May 5, 1925 in Trinity County, Texas to the late Albert S. Terry Sr. and Edna Eddington Terry and died Saturday, May 14, 2016 in Lufkin, Texas. Mary Lee was raised in Trinity County and moved to Lufkin at age 17 when she was married. She was a lifetime resident of Lufkin, Texas. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She worked at Cavanaugh Peden Drug for many years and loved assisting brides on their wedding selections. She loved to crochet doilies and was well known for her beautiful crocheted baby booties that were worn by many generations from all over the country. She loved to cook and bake. Mary Lee loved to work in the yard and take care of her beautiful flowers; she could grow anything! She was a member of Good Sam’s Club and loved traveling for many years with her husband in their “home on wheels”. She was a charter member of Union Road Church of Christ and attended the first service of the original location on Pershing as well as the new church on Old Union Road. Survivors include her son, Jimmy Taylor of Lufkin; daughter-in-law, Vicky Harding Taylor of Huntsville; granddaughters, Marilyn Johnson along with her husband James of Golden, Colorado and Lacey Taylor of Commerce; great-grandson, Jackson Taylor Johnson of Golden, Colorado; brother and sister-in-law, Albert and Doris Terry of Apple Springs; numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Bob F. Taylor; son, Terry Bob Taylor; brother, Lee Roy Terry; sisters, Edwina Fenley and Vernice Parrott. Pallbearers will be Brian Zbylot, Ben Watson, David Terry, Rory Truss, Darwin Horton, Bill Adams, Mark Hurst, Tommy Hurst. Memorial contributions may be made to The Joseph House, P.O. Box 150554 Lufkin, Texas 75915 and Hospice in the Pines, 1504 W. Frank Avenue, Lufkin, Texas 75904. The family would like to extend a special thanks to all of the physicians and caregivers during Mary Lee’s illness. The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday evening at the funeral home.
