Elton Ray Grimes

Funeral services for Elton Ray Grimes, 54, of Zavalla will be held Wednesday, May 18, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Brother William Lee, Brother J.P. Hopkins, and Brother Cary Modisett officiating. Interment will follow in the Cameron Cemetery. Mr. Grimes was born January 13, 1962 in Lufkin, Texas to J.O. Grimes Sr. and Lessie Evon (Graham) Grimes and died Saturday, May 14, 2016 at The University of Texas Medical Branch – Galveston. Mr. Grimes had resided in Zavalla for most of his life. He was self-employed as a Rancher and owner of Grimes Welding. He was a member of the Zavalla Rodeo Club and Sulphur Springs Baptist Church. Survivors include his son, Matthew Grimes of Houston; daughter, Brittany Grimes of Zavalla; mother, Lessie Grimes of Zavalla; sister and brother-in-law, Patricia Grimes Grubbs and John Grubbs of Zavalla; brother and sister-in-law, J.O., Jr. and Bonnie Grimes of Zavalla; grandson, Avery Grimes of Zavalla; numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his father, J.O. Grimes, Sr.; grandparents, Alfred and Hester Grimes and Thomas and Minnie Graham. Pallbearers will be Jeffery Hudspeth, George Cryer,Jr., Justin Grimes, Lloyd Havard, Jay Grubbs, Tim Grubbs, Hopper Dykes, and Andy Grimes. The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
