William J. "Bill" West

William J. “Bill” West, 77, of Lufkin passed away Tuesday, May 10, 2016 in a local hospital. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Carroway Funeral Home. No services are planned at this time.

Mr. West was born July 23, 1938 in Oakland, California to Ann Laura (Stocks) and Paul Marion West. They preceded him in death along with his brother, Paul Gene West and his beloved daughter, Susan Marie West.

Mr. West had a long and successful career in the printing industry from printing equipment sales, Field Sales Manager for Enco Printing Products, and President of the L.H. Kelley Co. in Houston. In 1991, he and his wife Tommie moved to Lufkin and established Westforms, a business forms sales company.

He was a long time member and strong supporter of Rotary International, serving as President of the Lufkin Rotary Club and two terms as Assistant Governor of District 5910. Mr. West was a multiple Paul Harris Fellow, charter member of Christ Congregational Church, member of Men’s Bible Study Group at Believers Bible Church, a past president of the Men’s Golf Association at Crown Colony Country Club, and member and co-chairman of the Undoing Racism Task Force. He had a very strong belief in God’s power and tried to live up to the motto “Service Above Self”.

Survivors include his wife of 36 years, Tommie Nell (Garrison) West; sons, William John West of California, Ronald Jay West of California, and Matthew Jason West of Georgia; daughter, Melissa Ann Barnes of California; stepsons and their wives, Jay Wallace and Julie of Pleasanton, California and Greg Wallace and Dorothy of Kingwood; granddaughters, Jay-Lynn Wallace and Pita Wallace of Grapevine, and Haley Wallace of Kingwood; grandson, Kyle Barnes of California; great-granddaughter, Gianna Deshotel of Kingwood; and a number of nieces and nephews.

The family extends thanks to his wonderful doctors and nurses, and to Heart to Heart Hospice.
