Stanley Lynn New

Stanley Lynn New, 63, of Lufkin went to be with the Lord Saturday, May 7, 2016. A celebration service will be held at Harmony Hill Baptist Church Thursday, May 12, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. with Dr. John W. Greene officiating.

Stanley was born October 11, 1952 in Crane, Texas. He graduated from Texas A&I University in Kingsville and earned a Graduate Degree in Banking from the University of Colorado. He was Vice President and Trust Officer of First Bank & Trust East Texas.

Everyone knew Stanley for his love of God and family. He modeled his faith with humility and wisdom, and he embodied grace to all he knew. He spent countless hours studying the Word, and encouraging those around him in their own faith. He loved his children and grandchildren endlessly, and he put them first throughout his life. Spending time with his grandchildren brought him immense joy, and his grandchildren cherished their time with “Poppe”. He and the love of his life, wife Carolyn, enjoyed traveling. He was also an avid reader, and he never tired of learning. His passion for learning and education led him to serve tirelessly on the Lufkin ISD Board of Trustees for 22 years.

Survivors include his wife of 41 years, Carolyn New of Lufkin; daughter and son-in-law, Hilary and Jason Howard of Houston; daughter, Lilian New of San Diego; daughter-in-law and son, Bethany and Eliot New of Beaumont; grandchildren, Cora Rose, Wesley, and Helen Howard, and Benjamin, Hamilton, and Mary Catherine New; and sisters, Sue Guthrie of Victoria and Julie New of Bryan.
