James "Shot" Hollis Brashear

Graveside services for James Hollis “Shot” Brashear, 80, of the Bald Hill Community in Angelina County, Texas will be held Monday, May 2, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. in the Fielder Memorial Cemetery with Brother Horace Fletcher officiating.

Mr. Brashear was born May 17, 1935 in Angelina County, Texas to the late Richard Philmore and Esther Cordelia (Havard) Brashear and died April 28, 2016 at his residence.

Mr. Brashear was a lifelong resident of Lufkin. He was employed by Lufkin Typewriter and Cash Register Company in sales for 43 years. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, and especially spending time with family. Mr. Brashear was a member of the Homer United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife, June Brashear of Bald Hill; children and their spouses, Tamesha and Michael Will of Houston, Keith and Tracye Brashear and Alysa and Daniel Cummins all of Bald Hill; grandchildren, Ian Fernandez of Houston, Amanda Fernandez Perez and husband Jacob of Houston, James Keith “Buggs” Bass and fiancé Haley White of Kennard, Megan Bass of Lufkin, Rebekah Brashear of Bald Hill, Lacey Cummins of Austin, Stacy Rojo and fiancé Greg Oliver of Lufkin, Kacey Garrett of Lufkin, and Kaley Spellings and husband Titus of Bald Hill; great-grandchildren, Zeke, Luke, Hannah, and Cameron; brother, Kenneth Brashear of Lufkin; sister and brother-in-law, Daphna and Clovis Whitehead of Lufkin; numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister and brother-in-law, Ruby and J.C. Flurry; brother and sister-in-law, Richard “R.F.” and Gladys Brashear; sister-in-law, Sarah Brashear.

Pallbearers will be James Keith Bass, Jacob Perez, Greg Oliver, Sherman Havard, Mike Will, L.C. Whitehead, Keith Brashear, Daniel Cummins, Titus Spellings, and Ken Brashear.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice in the Pines, 1504 W. Frank Ave., Lufkin, Texas 75904.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Sunday evening at the funeral home.
