Tim Hughes, Sr.

Funeral services for Tim Hughes, Sr., 45, of Lufkin will be held Wednesday, April 27, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Christian Collard officiating. Interment will follow in the Whitehouse Cemetery.

Mr. Hughes was born June 11, 1970 in Houston, Texas to Vernon “Wayne” Hughes and the late Joyce (Mercer) Hughes, and died Saturday, April 23, 2016 in a local hospital.

Mr. Hughes had resided in Lufkin most of his life. He had been employed with DuPree Tire for more than 20 years. He loved doing anything in the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. Mr. Hughes was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include his wife of 27 years, Lorrie Hughes of Lufkin; sons, T.J. Hughes and girlfriend Liz Compian, and Brandon Hughes, all of Lufkin; special son, Patrick Justice of Huntington; father, Vernon “Wayne” Hughes of Lufkin; sisters and brothers-in-law, Connie and David Driskell of Crockett, Tammy Mettlen and Lewis Brown, Beth and Paul Blaylock, and Thresa and Chris Sowell, all of Latexo; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, George “Junior” and Barbara Martin, Paula Henderline, all of Lufkin, Danny and Alicia Martin of Pollok, Donna and Rodney Honeycutt, Peggy and Danny Pace, Bobby and Bobbie Martin, David and Brandy Martin, Tracy and Jason Varnado, all of Lufkin, and Robbie and Melonie Adams of Pollok; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Joyce Hughes; brother, Bobby W. Hughes; and grandparents, Rev. Floyd and Irene Hughes, Dezy Hughes, and Burl and Lois Mercer.

The family extends special thanks to Ronnie and Melinda DuPree.

Pallbearers will be Tim Sprinkle, Pat Sprinkle, Michael Allen, Patrick Henderline, Charles Evans, and Dennis Wilson.

Honorary pallbearers will be the employees of DuPree Tire.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 212 Gene Samford Drive, Lufkin, Texas 75904.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
