W.D. "Mr. Mac" Mchaney

Funeral services for W.D. “Mr. Mac” McHaney, 81, of Lufkin will be held Tuesday, April 12, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. John W. Greene officiating. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. in the Williams Cemetery in Panola County.

Mr. McHaney was born October 18, 1934 in Kilgore, Texas to the late Willie Raymond and Sarah (Walker) McHaney, and died Sunday, April 10, 2016 at his residence.

A former resident of Shreveport, Louisiana, Mr. McHaney had resided in Lufkin for 46 years. He owned and operated Mac’s Deli & Grocery until his retirement in 2003. Mr. McHaney was a past active member of the Lufkin Evening Lions Club and a member of Harmony Hill Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Karen McHaney of Lufkin; daughter, Lylekay McHaney of Lufkin; grandchildren, Karen M. McHaney and Reagan McHaney; brothers and sister-in-law, Randy McHaney of Houston and Kenneth and Mary Frances McHaney of Nacogdoches; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Reyna and James Hortman of Hallsville; and a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Peggy Smith.

Pallbearers will be Reagan McHaney, Randy McHaney, Jonathan Carr and James Hortman.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday evening at the funeral home.
