Graveside services with military honors for Joe Curtis Pierce, 82, of Lufkin will be held Monday, April 11, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. in the Deadwood Cemetery in Panola County.
Mr. Pierce was born August 21, 1933 in Panola County, Texas to the late Paul and Ottie B. (LaGrone) Pierce, and died Friday, April 8, 2016 in a local hospital.
Mr. Pierce had resided in Lufkin most of his life. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict, stationed in Alaska. Mr. Pierce retired from American Color Graphics, where he was a truck driver. Truck driving was his life. He was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include his sons and daughter-in-law, Gary Joe Pierce, Sr. of Lufkin and Greg and Cindy Pierce of Hudson; grandsons, Gary Joe Pierce, Jr. and wife Tenisha, Jeremy Pierce, all of Lufkin, and Cody Pierce and wife Shay of Huntington; granddaughter, Amanda Pierce of Hudson; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife and mother of his children, Mary Pierce; and second wife, Freddie Kaye Pierce.
The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Sunday evening at Carroway Funeral Home.
