Funeral services for Nita Fenley Noel, 80, of Lufkin will be held Friday, March 25, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Associate Pastor Greg Denman officiating. Interment will follow in the Fielder Memorial Cemetery. Mrs. Noel was born February 7, 1936 in the Homer Community of Angelina County, Texas to the late Clarence and Mary Ethel (Smith) Fenley and died Tuesday, March 22, 2016 at Hospice in the Pines of Lufkin. Mrs. Noel was a lifelong resident of Lufkin. She retired from the Lufkin Independent School District in the Food Service Department. She loved her family very much and was proud of her children and grandchildren. She also loved her church family and enjoyed being involved in all activities. She participated in the “Take Time To Read” program at the Huntington Elementary School. She spent her time taking care of her garden and working at the cemetery. Mrs. Noel was well known in the area for her cooking; fried chicken, chicken and dumplings, red beans, fried cornbread, and especially her award winning chocolate pie. She was a lifetime member of Homer United Methodist Church. Survivors include her husband of 59 years, Joe Ray Noel of Lufkin; sons, Chuck Noel and wife Robin of Austin, Peyton Noel and fiancé, Angie Stone of Lufkin, Gary Noel and wife Susan of Lufkin; grandchildren and their spouses, Chris Noel, Craig Noel, Kati Noel, A.J. Noel, Lindsay and Kevin Waterman, and Lacy Thrall; 5 great-grandchildren; sister, Dot Carrell of Diboll; brother, Gene Fenley of Diboll. She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Mary Emma McBride and Marie Arnold; brothers, Glenn Fenley and J.L. Fenley. Pallbearers will be A.J. Noel, Chris Noel, Craig Noel, Skylar Quick, Jesse Bates, and Dustin Allen. Honorary pallbearers will be Chuck Noel, Peyton Noel, Gary Noel, and Gene Fenley. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 304 N. Raguet, Lufkin, Texas 75904 or Hospice in the Pines, 1504 W. Frank Avenue, Lufkin, Texas 75904. The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday evening at the funeral home.
