Funeral services for Frankie Lee Nixon, 77, of Apple Springs will be held Monday, March 14, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dr. Jerome Brimmage officiating. Interment will follow in the Mount Zion Cemetery in Trinity County. Mrs. Nixon was born August 19, 1938 in Blossom, Texas to the late Turner and Geneva (Hart) Carter, and died Thursday, March 10, 2016 at her son’s home in Cypress, Texas. Formerly of Houston, Mrs. Nixon had resided in the Angelina and Trinity County area for 19 years. She volunteered at the Mosaic Center in Lufkin and was the cook for The Road to Emmaus. Mrs. Nixon enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and family at the ranch in Apple Springs. She was an exemplary wife and mother. Mrs. Nixon was a member of Lufkin’s First United Methodist Church. Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law, Mark and Kelley Nixon of Cypress and Craig and Jodi Nixon of Anderson, Indiana; grandsons, Cody Nixon, Casey Nixon, both of Cypress, and Noah Nixon of Anderson, Indiana; and granddaughters, Reagan Nixon, Kylie Nixon, both of Cypress, and Sydney Nixon of Anderson, Indiana; brother and sister-in-law, Norman and Novella Carter of Hot Springs Village, Arkansas; and a number of nieces, nephews, and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband of 53 years, Tommy Russell Nixon. The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Monday afternoon prior to the services.
