James Ardie Landrum

Funeral services for James Ardie Landrum, 75, of Lufkin will be held Saturday, March 12, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Lewis Jones and Mike Jones officiating. Graveside services with military honors will follow in the Largent Cemetery. Mr. Landrum was born November 2, 1940 in Diboll, Texas to the late William M. and Susie (Sikes) Landrum, and died Wednesday, March 9, 2016 at his residence. Mr. Landrum was a lifetime resident of Angelina County. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War and was a retired Master Plumber. Mr. Landrum was a craftsman who could build most anything. He was particularly known for making deer antler handle knives. He built a Trike from a Volkswagen “Bug”. Mr. Landrum enjoyed traveling and loved visiting Colorado. He was of the Baptist faith. Survivors include his wife, Marie Landrum of Lufkin; daughters, Susan Morgan of Lufkin and Rebecca Wilson of Rowlett; son, Shelby Messer of Lufkin; granddaughter, Courtney Messer of Stewart, Tennessee; grandsons, Austin Morgan, Jase Morgan, both of Lufkin, Noah Cutler of Rowlett, Eli Cutler of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Taylor Messer of Stewart, Tennessee, and Dakota Messer of Central; sister, Shirley Stubblefield of Lufkin; brother, G.B. Landrum of Lufkin; and a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Marie Dunn, Bessie Henderson and Edna Williams; and brother, Wallace Landrum. Pallbearers will be Jason Jones, Dickie Dunn, Mike Jones, Mike Dunn, Noah Cutler and Eli Cutler. Honorary pallbearer will be Tommy Ridgeway. The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home.
