Robert R. Ogburn

Funeral services for Robert R. Ogburn, 96, of Lufkin will be held Thursday, March 10, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Horace Fletcher officiating. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Carroway Funeral Home. Mr. Ogburn was born January 1, 1920 in Grand Saline, Texas to the late Wiley Dewey Ogburn and Addie (Hashert) Ogburn, and died Saturday, March 5, 2016 in Bayshore Medical Center in Pasadena. Mr. Ogburn, a former resident of Grand Saline, resided in Lufkin for 57 years. He served with the 112th Calvary in the United States Army. He was awarded the Silver Star, Bronze Star, and Purple Heart during World War II. From 1957-1966 Mr. Ogburn was a Game Warden for The State of Texas. In his free time, he enjoyed fishing. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Lufkin. Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Eve Ogburn of Lufkin; daughters and sons-in-law, Debra Kay and Paul Morrison of Pasadena and Linda Joy and Robert Root of Marshall, Arkansas; stepson and stepdaughter-in-law, Wilburn and Geraldine Dickerson of Huntsville; grandchildren and spouses, Shane and Lori Cates, Tracey Barnett, George and Pam Gouge, Gary and Candy Gouge, Cliff and Linda Gouge, and Michael Gouge; 13 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great-grandchildren; nephew, Thomas Kindle of Grand Saline; niece, Nancy Morris of Grand Saline; and numerous other family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Blanche Hope Ogburn; brother, Bruce Ogburn; and sister, Christine Kindle. Memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O.
