John "Buddy" Bridges

Funeral services for John “Buddy” Bridges, 80, of Lufkin will be held Wednesday, March 9, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Keith Jones, Pat Jones, and Larry Morris officiating. Interment will follow in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park. Mr. Bridges was born March 9, 1935 in Lufkin, Texas to the late Aubrey Harold and Winnie Elizabeth (Potts) Bridges and died Saturday, March 5, 2016 in a local hospital. Mr. Bridges was a lifelong resident of Lufkin. He retired, after 34 years, from the Lufkin Coca-Cola Bottling Company where he was the Service and Sales Manager. He enjoyed working in his yard and any type of building projects and carpentry work. He loved to sing and play the guitar and could always be found picking and joking with family and friends. Mr. Bridges was a member of the Union Road Church of Christ. Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Juanita Bridges of Lufkin; daughter and son-in-law, Nita Jo and Randy Farr of Roanoke, Virginia; son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Denise Bridges of Lufkin; daughter, Harliey Bridges of Lufkin; 8 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, Pinky and Joyce Bridges of Lufkin; numerous nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Randy Bridges; parents-in-law, Dock and Artis Morris; brother, Charles Bridges; sisters, Ruth Freeman Capps, Marie Squyres, Faye Capps, Jane Oglesby, and Martha Capps; nephews, Sterling Squyres, Joe Freeman, and Reggie Bridges. Pallbearers will be Brad Farr, Scott Bridges, Jamie Bridges, Trey Purvis, Mike Capps, Gary Teer, Cody Capps, and Antonio Aguilar. Honorary pallbearers will be Elders of Union Road Church of Christ, Jeremy Farr, and Shane Bridges. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice in the Pines, 1504 W. Frank Ave., Lufkin, Texas 75904. The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
