Funeral services for Kenneth Allen Dry, 75, of Apple Springs will be held Tuesday, March 8, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Garland Baker and Dustin Jerrett officiating. Interment will follow in the Bennett Cemetery. Mr. Dry was born April 13, 1940 in Shelbyville, Texas to the late Ollie Marion and Mary Katherine (Askew) Dry and died Saturday, March 5, 2016 at his residence. Mr. Dry, formerly of Deer Park and Pasadena, had resided in Apple Springs for 30 years. He served his country with the United States Navy. Mr. Dry was a Paint Contractor for 35 years prior to retiring from the Texas Department of Corrections as a Correctional Officer after 12 years. He loved fishing, camping, and wood working. He loved his Lord, his family, and his church. He never met a stranger. Mr. Dry was a charter member of Victory Assembly of God and served on the church board for 15 years. He was a leader of home groups for numerous years and was also a member of the Victory Senior Group where he enjoyed fellowshipping while playing dominoes and taking trips to Branson, Missouri. Survivors include his wife of 29 years, Betty Dry of Apple Springs; son and daughter-in-law, Kenny and Doreen Dry of Abilene; daughters and sons-in-law, Belinda and Bill Conner and Angie and Kenneth Jerrett all of Apple Springs; daughter-in-law, Becky Dry of Lufkin; brother, Michael Dry, Sr. and his wife, Linda of Palestine; sister-in-law, Jane Dry of Shelbyville; 11 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces, nephews, other family, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Robert and Maudie Adams; son, Kevin Scott Dry; brother, David Dry; and sisters, Betty Mitchell and Sandy Stringer. Pallbearers will be Dustin Jerrett, Heath Jerrett, Brendon Dry, Billy Ray Conner, Kenneth Matthews, and Travis Richnow. Honorary pallbearers will be Josh Howell, Charlie Mitchell, Robbie Jeter, Todd Jeter, Little Mike Dry, Little David Dry, Jack Jordan, Clayton Boyd, and Cameron Boyd. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice in the Pines, 1504 W. Frank Ave., Lufkin, Texas 75904 or Victory Assembly of God, 1405 S. Chestnut St, Lufkin, Texas 75901.
