Amanda Jo Collins, 56, of Longview died peacefully in her home on March 3, 2016 after a lengthy illness. Amanda spent much of her time with hobbies that included photography and other artistic expressions.
Amanda was born in Lufkin on December 25, 1959 to the late Joe P. Collins and Lottie Jean Collins of Lufkin.
Mandy, as she was commonly known, graduated from Nacogdoches High School in 1978, but remained in touch with her Lufkin High School classmates over the years. She worked as the Variety Manager for Safeway Foods in Nacogdoches for a number of years before returning to college to pursue nursing. She obtained her nursing degree and was employed by Longview Regional Hospital until 2009.
Mandy is survived by her longtime friend, Marsha Plunk of Longview; mother, Lottie Jean Collins of Lufkin; brother and sister-in-law, Rick and Sharon Collins of Lufkin; brother, Roman G. Collins of Lufkin; nieces, Courtney Collins, Stephanie Collins, and Peyton Collins, all of Lufkin; nephew, Jude Collins of Lufkin; aunt, Wardette Harrison of Crockett; several cousins, aunts, and uncles.
She is preceded in death by her father, Joe P. Collins and grandparents, Esther Ray of Lufkin and Ward and Reba Collins of Ratcliff.
