Funeral services for Carl Gibbins, 90, of Lufkin will be held Sunday, March 6, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Gary Redd officiating. Graveside service with military honors will follow in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park. Mr. Gibbins was born October 18, 1925 in Groveton, Texas to the late John and Omallie Pillows Gibbins and died Wednesday, March 2, 2016 at his residence in Lufkin. Mr. Gibbins served in the United States Army. He owned Triple AAA Vacuum Cleaner Service for over 20 years. He enjoyed country/western dancing and loved playing 42 and Canasta. Mr. Gibbins was a member of the Lufkin VFW Post #1836 and Victory Assembly of God Church. Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Shelly Gibbins and Willie Marshall of Lufkin; son, Carl Michael Gibbins of Houston; stepson and daughter-in-law, Darrell W. and Paula Hood of Conroe; 5 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other family members. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Velma Gibbins; brothers, Claude Gibbins and John Gibbins, Jr.; and sister, Jewel Lenderman. Pallbearers will be William Marshall, Kevin Mathena, Ray Gainvors, and Thomas Ratliff, Sr. Memorial contributions may be made to Heart to Heart Hospice, 209 Christie St, Lufkin, Texas 75904. The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Sunday, prior to the service, at the funeral home.
