Graveside services with Military Honors for Michael Ray Segrest, 61, of Athens will be held Sunday, February 28, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park with Mark Randolph officiating.
Mr. Segrest was born January 11, 1955 in Lufkin, Texas to Helen Elaine (Crawford) and Albert Claron Segrest, and died Thursday, February 18, 2016 in Athens, Texas.
Mr. Segrest served in the U.S. Army and had worked for Lufkin Industries. Growing up he enjoyed doing carpentry with his grandfather. Mr. Segrest was of the Baptist faith and served in ministry as a Certified Counselor.
Survivors include his mother, Helen Lee of Lufkin; daughter, Shannon Segrest and Ahmed Hassan Abdullah Abulnasr of Giza, Egypt; grandson, Mohammed Ahmed Hassan Abulnasr of Giza, Egypt; sisters, Rebecca Lee-Jones of The Woodlands and Lori Lee Ray of Lufkin; brother, Robert Lee of Lufkin; and a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his father, Albert Segrest; and sister, Cheryle Lynn Segrest Castaneda.
Pallbearers will be Chad Lee, Justin Lee, Leroy Scott, Jackie Lewis, Emil Charanza, and Rick Wall.
Honorary pallbearers are beloved friends of Oak Wood Place, Athens, Texas.
The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Sunday at Carroway Funeral Home.
