John D. "J.D." Clifton

Funeral services for John D. “J.D.” Clifton, 68, of Hudson will be held Wednesday, February 24, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at Harmony Hill Baptist Church with Dr. John W. Greene officiating. Interment will follow with military honors in the Fielder Cemetery.

Mr. Clifton was born January 28, 1948 in Alto, Texas to the late Edward L. and Pauline (McGaughey) Clifton and died Saturday, February 20, 2016 at his residence.

Mr. Clifton resided in Hudson for most of his life. He retired, after 38 years of service, as a Postal Carrier with the United States Postal Service. He also served his country in the Vietnam War with the United States Air Force. Mr. Clifton enjoyed deer hunting, fishing, and watching the Dallas Cowboy football games. He enjoyed traveling to Colorado to see his grandchildren. Mr. Clifton was a lifetime member of the VFW and a member of Harmony Hill Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Judy Clifton of Hudson; son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Julie Clifton of Hudson; daughter and son-in-law, Tiffany and Jeremy Hodges of Lufkin; grandchildren, Natalie and Morgan Clifton, Emily and Molly Hodges, Brianna McMeekin, Michael Davis, Isaiah Lovato, and Dylan and Gracie James; brother, Danny Clifton of Hudson; brother and sister-in-law, Terry and Sally Clifton of Huntington; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Donnie and Darlene Stephens of Lufkin; sister-in-law, Debbie Winston of Lufkin; numerous nieces and nephews; and dear friend, Sandra Mott of Lufkin.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his daughter, Kim Davis.

Pallbearers will be Matthew Clifton, Jim Roper, Bruce Clifton, Beau Winston, Lane Adams, and Bob Jenkins.

Honorary pallbearers will be past and present Lufkin United States Postal Letter Carriers.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
