Graveside services for Bernice Evelyn Free, 90, of Lufkin will be held Sunday, February 14, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. in the Berry Cemetery with Jimmy Runnels officiating.

Mrs. Free was born March 1, 1925 in Lufkin, Texas to the late James Dickson and Charlcie (Haley) Albritton, and died Thursday, February 11, 2016 at her residence.

Mrs. Free was a lifetime resident of Lufkin, and worked as an operator for the Lufkin Conroe Telephone Exchange for 20 years. She was a fantastic cook and loved entertaining family and friends. She also enjoyed gardening. Mrs. Free was one of Jehovah’s Witnesses.

Survivors include her husband of 64 years, Rayburn Free of Lufkin; son, Mike Free of Houston; grandson, Alexander Free of Houston; sisters, Dorothy Hearne of Corrigan, Betty Craig and Joyce Crain, both of Lufkin; brother, Gene Albritton of Lufkin; and a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
