Funeral services for Harold R. Kapphahn, 80, of Zavalla will be held Friday, February 12, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Joel Hitchock officiating. Interment will follow in the Huntington Cemetery. Mr. Kapphahn was born December 28, 1935 in Webster, South Dakota to the late Henry and Dorothy Moss Kapphahn and died Sunday, February 7, 2016 in Lufkin. Mr. Kapphahn resided in Zavalla since 2009. He was a hard working man who worked as a laser operator for Bermo Inc. in Minnesota for over 40 years. He loved to fish, golf, play cards, tell jokes, and play a good game of horse shoes. He showed horses in 3 different circuits. He loved playing with his grandkids and great-grandkids. Mr. Kapphahn was a member of the St. Edwards Catholic Church. Survivors include his wife of almost 63 years, Jeanett (Chambrone) Kapphahn of Zavalla; daughter and son-in-law, Deborah (Kapphahn) and Dale Carter, Jr.; son, Gregory Kapphahn all of Zavalla; son and daughter-in-law, Darrin and Carol Kapphahn of Golden Valley, Minnesota; daughter and son-in-law, Tammie (Kapphahn) and Shane Carter of Zavalla; grandson, Jacob Kapphahn of Belle Plaine, Minnesota; granddaughters and fiancés, Heather Matson and Jeff O’Neal of Zavalla, Mallory Kapphahn and Steve Chock of Belle Plaine, Minnesota, and Amanda Lind and Brent Hall of Jasper; grandson, Kyle Kapphahn and granddaughter, Sydney Kapphahn of Golden Valley, Minnesota; great-granddaughters, Kyrie Lind of Zavalla, Avery Chock of Belle Plaine, Minnesota, and Cheyenne O’Neal of Zavalla; step-great-grandchildren, Aftyn Carter, Austin Carter, Ty Carter, Kalob Carter, Paige Capps, Haley Capps, and Madison Vance ; sisters, Carol Hulder of Georgia, Shirley Detling of Mound, Minnesota, and Linda Ehlebracht of Otsego, Minnesota; brothers, Dennis Lauseng and Roger Lauseng both of South Dakota; numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Lloyd Lauseng, Dwille Lauseng, and Larry Kapphahn; and sisters, Karen Kapphahn and Yvonne Olsrude. Pallbearers will be Shane Carter, Dale Carter, Jeff O’Neal, Jake Kapphahn, Kyle Kapphahn, Steve Chock, Tom Hanson, Brent Hall, and Adam Carter. Honorary pallbearer will be Gregory Kapphahn. The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday evening at the funeral home.
