Harlie B. Thomas

Funeral services for Harlie B. Thomas, 80, of Pollok will be held Friday, February 5, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Darryl Bennett officiating. Interment will follow in the Narrow Way Cemetery. Mr. Thomas was born May 10, 1935 in Lufkin, Texas to the late Oren Arthur and Daisy Mae (Alsbrooks) Thomas and died Tuesday, February 2, 2016 at a local hospital. Mr. Thomas resided in the Lufkin area most of his life. He was honored to have served his country in the United States 7th Army from 1954-1956 in Korea and proud of his military commendations and citations he received while with Battery A, 5th AA Battalion. He was a self-employed auto body repairman for over 30 years. Mr. Thomas loved old cars, the outdoors, watching birds, and attending church. He was of the Pentecostal faith and was a member of the Eastgate Family Church in Crockett. Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Betty Thomas of Pollok; sons and daughters-in-law, David and Barbara Thomas of Edna; Joe and Jenny Thomas of Etoile; daughters and sons-in-law, Debbie and Jim Barbee of Abilene, Suzanne and Danny Mullins of Central, Janyl and Kenneth Tatrai of San Angelo; son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Rebecca Thomas of Pollok; 13 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and numerous other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings. Pallbearers will be Zachary Mullins, Jared Mullins, Laramy Thomas, Justin Hamilton, David Thomas, Jr., and Anthony Tatrai. Honorary pallbearers will be Mr. Thomas’ nephews. The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday evening at the funeral home.
