A celebration of life for Nancy (Means) West, 81, of Zavalla will be held Saturday, February 27, 2016 at 3:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel in Huntington with Brother Wayne Roberson officiating and family members sharing their memories. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Carroway Funeral Home.
Mrs. West was born June 14, 1934 in Atlanta, Georgia to the late Spencer Means and Ottalie (Reenstjerna) Means. Formerly of League City, she had resided near Sam Rayburn for 19 years. During her stay on earth she was employed as a U.S. Postal Worker, as a Paralegal for Exxon Litigation in Clear Lake City, and concurrently was a homemaker for 64 years. While living in the League City area she was known for assisting the economically disadvantaged. She has been blessed to see generations return to express their appreciation. Mrs. West was always kind, compassionate and generous. She always saw the best in the character of others and never spoke harshly of anyone. She loved all God’s creatures and instilled that love in her daughters. Mrs. West was of the Lutheran faith.
She is survived by her husband, Walter West; daughters, Vicki West Meehan of Wimberly and Julie West Friedman of Katy; grandsons, Cody Berryman, Delton Friedman, and Caleb Friedman; great-grandson, Mason Berryman; and brother, Spencer Means of New York, NY.
