Emma Marie (Grimes) Westerman

Graveside services for Emma Marie Grimes Westerman, 79, of Kennard will be held Thursday, January 28, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. in the Ivie Cemetery in Kennard with Brother Bobby Whisenant, Brother Joel Humphrey and Dennis Gray officiating.

Mrs. Westerman passed away January 24, 2016 at the White Hall Nursing Home in Crockett, Texas after a long illness. She had a long life of 79 years, 10 months, and 16 days. She was born in Lufkin (Peavy Switch), Texas on March 3, 1936. Marie was a member of Faith Tabernacle Church in Kennard, Texas where she made her home with her husband of 26 years, Ben Doyle Westerman. Marie was loved by all her family and friends. She had a kind and caring heart. Although her life was not easy she didn’t complain. She wanted to take care of all those whom she loved.

Before her illness she enjoyed sewing, crochet, and working with flowers in her yard and flower beds. Her favorite flower was red roses. She crocheted afghans and made quilt tops, she gave many away to friends and family. She was fun to be with especially when she and her sisters got together. She loved all her family but she delighted in those little great grandchildren.

Marie is survived by her husband, Ben Doyle Westerman; daughter, Jacqueline Joslin Sadler; step-son Scott Westerman; three grandsons, Kenneth, Charles, and Craig Randall; seven great-grandchildren; three step-grandchildren, Brandon, Courtney, and Matthew Westerman; three step-great-grandchildren; sisters and brothers-in-law, Joyce Grimes Gray and Charles B. Gray, Sr., Jean Grimes Fults and Gary Fults; brother, Jimmy Ray Grimes; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by her parents, Norris and Veda (Bass) Grimes; her husband and father of her only child, Glen Thomas Joslin; brothers, James Walter Grimes and Norris Edward Grimes; sister-in-law, Joy Faye Grimes; and brother-in-law, Charles Eugene Helms.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. Thursday morning, prior to the service, at the funeral home.
