Funeral services for Cheryl “Meme” Brown, 60, of Apple Springs will be held Thursday, January 21, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Lester McAdams officiating. Interment will follow in the Bennett Cemetery. Ms. Brown was born April 23, 1955 in Houston, Texas to James Lynn Brown and Jean (Lewter) Brown Best, and died Monday, January 18, 2016 at her residence. She resided in Trinity County most of her life. Ms. Brown’s life was about her children, grandchildren, and family. She loved sewing, crafting, and her pets. Survivors include her mother, Jean Best of Apple Springs; children and their spouses, Jeanne and Wes Shuell of Lufkin, Robin and Randall Fry, James and Sheena Rutledge, Karen and Jason Mott, and Amelia Forrest, all of Apple Springs; grandchildren, Geoffrey Hollis, Holly Ferguson and husband Dustin, Forrest Waldrep, Brittany Burke and husband Michael, Tyler Fry, Lynsey Fry, Anissa McBrearty, Michael Rutledge, Ethan Rutledge, Ashton Mott, Haley Mott, KK Mott, Tristen Davis, Kaleb Wars, and Gavin Wars; great-grandchildren, Brayden, Carson, and Hadley Burke, and Briley Fry; siblings and their spouses, Debra and L.D. Rogers of Crockett, Jimmy and Judy Brown, Johnny and Julie Brown, all of Apple Springs, Terry and Larry Cawley of Lufkin, and Darla and Johnny Ray Starling of Apple Springs; aunts, Nita Hines, Lisa Pylate and Denise Gilbert, all of Houston; special friend, Jim “Doc” Griffin of Hudson; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her fathers, James Lynn Brown and Aubrey Allen Best. Pallbearers will be her grandsons. Honorary pallbearers will be her sons-in-law. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice in the Pines, 1504 W. Frank Avenue, Lufkin, Texas 75904. The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
