Funeral services for Billy Wayne Gooch, 75, of Lufkin will be held Wednesday, January 20, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Blackie Cranford officiating. Interment will follow in the Largent Cemetery. Mr. Gooch was born October 30, 1940 in Evadale, Texas to the late William Donnelly and Zadie (Hammock) Gooch, and died Saturday, January 16, 2016 in a local hospital. Mr. Gooch resided in Lufkin most of his life. He owned and operated Bill’s Furniture for 45 years. Mr. Gooch enjoyed fishing, spending time with his family, which included his church family at Chestnut Drive Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Judith (McDonald) Gooch of Lufkin; daughters, Kim Pharris and husband Charlie and Tanya Moore and Charlie Heiny, all of Huntington; grandchildren, Denea Matchett and husband Jason, Stephen Powell and wife Ashley, all of Huntington, Starla Moore and Chase Burnett of Lufkin, Billy Moore of Talty, and Harley Moore of Terrell; and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents. Pallbearers will be Charlie Pharris, Charlie Heiny, Jason Matchett, Stephen Powell, Billy Moore and Harley Moore. Honorary pallbearers will be B.A. Goodwin, Al Brown, and his coffee drinking buddies. Memorial contributions may be made to The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, Texas Gulf Coast Chapter, 5005 Mitchelldale, Suite 115, Houston, Texas 77092-7230. The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
