Lou Vonzie Mcclendon Jackson

Funeral services for Lou Vonzie McClendon Jackson, 88, of Diboll will be held Monday, January 18, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Ronnie Frankens officiating. Interment will follow in the Ryan Chapel Cemetery. Mrs. Jackson was born March 1, 1927 in Diboll, Texas to the late William T. and Lela Belle (Capps) McClendon. She went to be with her Lord Friday, January 15, 2016 at The Joseph House in Lufkin. Mrs. Jackson was a lifetime resident of Diboll. She was a certified welder, and was prepared to work in the shipyards during World War II but her brother Roy encouraged her to stay home. Mrs. Jackson loved gardening, especially her roses and gladiolus, and enjoyed traveling and meeting new people. She was a faithful member of Homer United Pentecostal Church. She was very active in the church and was always glad to help anyone in need. Mrs. Jackson was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her love of family was second to none. Survivors include her daughter, Donna Lou Lee of Diboll; sons and daughters-in-law, Danny Ray and Donna Sue Jackson of Diboll and Joe and Billie Jackson of Pollok; grandchildren, Rhonda Jackson, Tonia Hope Wilkins and husband Cody, all of Diboll, twin sisters Sandy Jackson of Lufkin and Amanda Vaughn and husband John of Central, JonPaul Sinclair of Lufkin, Jackie Lyles of Houston, and Judy Sheffield and husband Jimmy of Lufkin; great-grandchildren, Jayce Guerrero, Rayla Guerrero, Taylor Colbert, Rebecca Cromeens, Tyler Wilkins, Hunter Vasquez, Cullen Vaughn, twin sisters Sydney Sheffield and Reagan Sheffield, Jackson Lynn Sinclair, Jarron Sinclair, Holyn Sinclair, and Jackson Paul “Tuffy” Sinclair; brother-in-law, Leonard Grimes of Diboll; sister-in-law, Ruby “Jack” Thompson of Huntington; and a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Paul Jackson; sister, Walterine “Dixie” Grimes; and brothers, Theria McClendon and Roy McClendon. Pallbearers will be Amanda Vaughn, Tonia Hope Wilkins, Rhonda Jackson, Jayce Guerrero, Rayla Guerrero, and JonPaul Sinclair. Honorary pallbearer will be Sandy Jackson. The family extends special thanks to The Joseph House, Cheryl, and Affinity Hospice for their compassionate care. Memorial contributions may be made to The Joseph House, P.O. Box 150554, Lufkin, Texas 75915. The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday evening at the funeral home.
