Lois A. (Haley) Cummings

Funeral services for Lois A. (Haley) Cummings, 91, of Lufkin will be held Sunday, January 17, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Brian Wiggins officiating. Interment will follow in the Whitehouse Cemetery. Ms. Cummings was born May 6, 1924 in Chandler, Oklahoma to the late Everett Haley and Mary Ruth (Grover) Haley-Wheaton, and died Friday, January 15, 2016 at The Joseph House in Lufkin. Ms. Cummings had resided in Lufkin most of her life. Her business activities include sales promotion work at Neuhoff Packing Co., Nacogdoches Sausage Co., Kraft, Pepsi Cola Co., and Mrs. Weaver’s Salads, sales clerk at Mathew-Miller Dry Goods, sales at Joe Clark Storey Ornamental Iron, and representative for Avon Products, Inc. for 45 years. Civic activities include serving as vice president and president of the P.T.A., Girl Scout leader, Mother Advisor of the Order of Rainbow Girls, member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Lufkin Chapter 382 for 50+ years, and volunteer at the Angelina County Senior Citizens Center and Head Start Child Development Center, where she loved to read “The Night Before Christmas”. Ms. Cummings was a charter member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, where she also sang in the choir. Survivors include her daughter, Lois Ruth Bradbury-Fisher of Lufkin; son, Charles Cummings, Jr. of Lufkin; granddaughters, Lorelei Cummings, Stacy McClure and husband Grant, all of Lufkin, MeLisa Johnson and husband Lynn of Baytown, and Julie Bradbury-Burnett and husband Scott of Lufkin; 11 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; friend, Nelda Childress, who was faithful to visit; and her beloved canine companions, Boots and Buttons. She was preceded in death by her parents and daughter, Donna Sue Small. Pallbearers will be James Brock Nelson, Tristin Bryce Johnson, Kegan Campbell, Benton Campbell, David McClure, Marshall McClure, Austin Hunter Nash, and James Brandyn Nash. Honorary pallbearers will be Royce Lynn Johnson, Michael Scott Burnett, Chaplain Greg Freijo, and Grant McClure. A special thank you to the staffs of Affinity Hospice and The Joseph House for their loving care of our mother. Memorial contributions may be made to The Joseph House, P.O. Box 150554, Lufkin, Texas 75915. The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Saturday evening at the funeral home.
