Delila (Mcgaughey) Lewin

Funeral services for Delila McGaughey Lewin, 94, of Lufkin will be held Friday, January 15, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Bob Klund officiating. Interment will follow in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park. Mrs. Lewin was born July 10, 1921 in Huntington, Texas to the late Hector Jerome and Nancy Delila (Mott) McGaughey and died Monday, January 11, 2016 in Lufkin. Mrs. Lewin had resided in Lufkin for most of her life. She previously worked for Bealls Department Store, Brookshire Brothers, The Yard Stick, and Hospice in the Pines. She was one of the first Typesetters in the Lufkin area. Mrs. Lewin was a charter member of the Believers Bible Church. Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Sandy Lewin of Richardson; daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Kimbal Pierce of Lufkin; nephew, David, whom she raised as her own, and his wife Bobbi McGaughey of Lafayette, Louisiana; grandson and wife, Jason and Lauren Pierce of Africa; granddaughters, Ashley and Jessica Pierce both of Austin, Angie Robinson of Cedar Park, and Dana Belmore of Anchorage, Alaska; 1 great-grandson, Silas Pierce of Africa; sister, Christine Hughes of Conroe; brother and sister-in-law, J.L. and Linda McGaughey of Lufkin; and a number of nieces, nephews, and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richman Lewin; siblings, C.B. McGaughey, Kester McGaughey, Van Buren McGaughey, and Burtis McGaughey.
