Bassillo Susan "Sue" (Barrera) Mullins

Funeral services for Bassillo Susan “Sue” Barrera Mullins, 88, of Lufkin will be held Saturday, January 9, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Gene Hazell and Chaplain Billy Stevens officiating. Interment will follow in the Berry Cemetery. Mrs. Mullins was born June 14, 1927 in Stockdale, Texas to the late Jesus and Refugio (Garza) Barrera, and died Sunday, January 3, 2016 in a local nursing home. Mrs. Mullins was a lifetime resident of Lufkin. She worked in the Dunbar Elementary School cafeteria for 14 years, and helped her husband and family with their Bluegrass music tours. She enjoyed sewing and cooking and loved flowers. Mrs. Mullins loved her family and children. She had a true servant’s heart. She was a member of Fairview Baptist Church and the Overcomers Sunday school class, and volunteered in the church nursery. Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law, Mark and Sandra Dearing, William and Darenda Mullins, and Joey and Wanda Mullins, all of Lufkin; daughter, Connie Mullins of Antioch, Tennessee; 10 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; brothers, Tony Barrera and Tino Barrera, both of Wayne, Michigan; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Billy Floyd Mullins; daughter, Mary Lou Provow; and aunt, Maria Elizondo. Pallbearers will be Chase Mullins, Jacob Dearing, Issac Dearing, Michael Bass, Ray Crawford, Bill Reeves and Matt Smith. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Overcomers Sunday school class at Fairview Baptist Church.
