Funeral services for Rex A. Lowery, 57, of Huntington will be held Saturday, December 19, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. Huntington First Baptist Church with Dr. Darryl Smith and Cody Moree officiating. Interment will follow in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park.
Mr. Lowery was born August 9, 1958 in Lufkin, Texas to Rosa Beth (Trinkle) and Herbert Lowery, and died Wednesday, December 16, 2015 in a local hospital.
Mr. Lowery was a lifetime resident of Huntington. He founded Integra Insurance Services in 1983 and owned multiple businesses. Mr. Lowery was a former President, CEO, and Board Member of Huntington State Bank, serving from 1987 until 2008.
Mr. Lowery enjoyed fishing, hunting, coaching numerous sports teams, and working with his cows. He was an active member of Huntington First Baptist Church, and the Open Door Sunday school class, which he loved. He had served as Church Treasurer since 2008.
Survivors include his wife of 32 years, Melody Lowery of Huntington; son and daughter-in-law, Shane and Julie Tatum of Huntington; daughter, Misty Tatum of Huntington; daughter and son-in-law, Kylie and Bryan Modisette of Huntington; son, Todd Lowery of Huntington; grandchildren, Hannah Tatum, Emma Tatum, Ashton Redd, Avery Redd, Reece Modisette and Slade Lowery; mother and stepfather, Beth and Charles Harmon of Vidor; brother and sister-in-law, Randy and Georgia Lowery of Huntington; parents-in-law, Billy Ray, Sr. and Frances Sanders of Garrison; brothers-in-law and sister-in-law, Ray, Jr. and Kay Sanders of Garrison and Ken Sanders of Houston; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Herbert Lowery; and brother, Richard Lowery.
Pallbearers will be Rex Womack, Richard Ivy, Scott Morehead, Robert Burrous, Jr., Tim Johnson and Ben Watson.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Open Door Sunday school class of Huntington First Baptist Church, Tom Havard, Mark Lowery, and Joe Lowery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Huntington First Baptist FLC Building Fund, P.O. Drawer E, Huntington, Texas 75949.
The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday evening at Huntington First Baptist Church.
