Jerry L. "Joker" Gilcrease

Funeral services for Jerry L. “Joker” Gilcrease, 69, of Zavalla will be held Sunday, December 13, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel in Huntington with Brother Calvin Kersh officiating. Interment will follow in the Tom Havard Cemetery.

Mr. Gilcrease was born May 17, 1946 in Zavalla, Texas to John Gilcrease and the late Rosalee Gilcrease and died Thursday, December 10, 2015 at his residence.

Mr. Gilcrease was a truck driver who worked for Breazeale Logging and Sammy Crain Trucking. He loved hunting, fishing, camping, and gardening. He loved his family and having fish fries and BBQ’s.
Mr. Gilcrease was a Deacon at the Saron Missionary Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Sallie Gilcrease of Zavalla; sons and daughters-in-law, Garry and Stephanie Treadway and Bobby and Cynthia Treadway of Zavalla; daughter, Phyllis Haight of Marshall; granddaughters, Ashley Renee Treadway of Zavalla, Delayna Harper of Zavalla, Kaitlyn Haight of Marshall, and Patricia Haight of Marshall; grandson, Devin Harper of Zavalla; great-granddaughter, Nevaeh Haight of Marshall; sisters, Clara May Harris, Marie Stanford, and Irene Conner; father, John Gilcrease of Zavalla; close friend, Richard Havard of Zavalla; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other family members.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Rosalee Gilcrease; brother, Jimmy Harris; and sister, Mary Lou Smith.

Pallbearers will be Devin Harper, Aaron Oliver, Calton Whitehurst, Jess Whitehurst, Gerald Walker, and Richard Havard.

Honorary pallbearers will be James Gilcrease, Ronnie Gilcrease, and Claude Elroy Hamilton.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice in the Pines, 1504 W. Frank Avenue, Lufkin, Texas 75904.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Saturday evening at the funeral home in Huntington.
