Doyel Snelson

Funeral services for Doyel Snelson, 94, of Huntington will be held Saturday, December 12, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel in Huntington with Brother Lamar Denby and Brother Cary Modisett officiating. Interment will follow in the Manning Cemetery.

Mr. Snelson was born November 2, 1921 in Panola County, Texas to the late John Heidt and Jewel Essie (Hudson) Snelson and died Tuesday, December 8, 2015 in Huntington.

Mr. Snelson had resided in Huntington for most of his life. He served in the United States Navy. Mr. Snelson worked as a heavy equipment operator for the Texas Forest Service for over ten years. He was a member of the Highway Missionary Baptist Church.

Survivors include his brother and sister-in-law, Lynn and Helen Snelson of Huntington; daughter, Virginia Mosley of Huntington, son and daughter-in-law, Frank and Wanda Harris of Huntington; daughter, Rebecca Harris of Austin; daughters and sons-in-law, Nita and Kenneth Walker of Huntington and Linda and Ken Whitton of Lufkin; son and daughter-in-law, Frank and Renee Gainer of Lufkin; eighteen grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and a host of other family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Lena Harris Snelson; second wife, Yvonne Gainer Snelson; daughter, Peggy Arnold; and brother, Harold Snelson.

Pallbearers will be Sherman Snelson, Tracy Harris, Matt Harris, Clark Snelson, Clint Caton, and Dean Mosley.

Honorary pallbearer will be Edward Snelson.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home in Huntington.
