Jospeh Mixon Bowser

Funeral services for Joseph Mixon Bowser, 88, of Lufkin will be held Friday, December 11, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Van Johnson and James Gray officiating. Interment will follow in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park. Mr. Bowser was born November 27, 1927 in Deweyville, Texas to the late Oran Housen and Pauline (Mixon) Bowser and died Tuesday, December 8, 2015 at his residence. Mr. Bowser was a lifetime resident of the Lufkin community. He served his country in the United States Army in World War II. He was a supervisor at the Southland Paper Mill for over thirty years. He was a selfless and compassionate man and just loved people in general. His grandchildren particularly cherish his “Penny A Pinecone” tradition. The most important thing to him in life was family; he always made sure they knew how much he loved them. Mr. Bowser was a Mason and a faithful member of the Herty Baptist Church. Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Mickey and Peggy Bowser of Lufkin; daughters and sons-in-law, Margie Jo and Larry Chalker of Irving and Stacy and Chris Bates of Sachse; eight grandchildren, Cristi Gray, Angela Meloy, Craig Bowser, Amanda Warren, Jason Bates, Katy Gowen, Ryan Bates, and Kelsey Bates; thirteen great-grandchildren; brothers, Jack Bowser of Groves, Ronnie Bowser of Nacogdoches, and Mike Bowser of Conroe; sister, Pat Williams of Evadale; also survived by his beloved dachshund, Arnie; and numerous other family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife of fifty-one years, Margie Bowser. Pallbearers will be Craig Bowser, Jason Bates, Ryan Bates, John Meloy, Jim Ross Warren, Matt Gowen, and James Gray. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Herty Baptist Church, 2914 Atkinson Drive, Lufkin, Texas 75901. The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday evening at the funeral home.
