Elizabeth E. "Granny" Miranda

Funeral services for Elizabeth E. “Granny” Miranda, 70, of Diboll will be held Friday, December 11, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Bobby Ryan officiating. Interment will follow in the Prairie Grove Cemetery. Ms. Miranda was born December 2, 1945 in Angelina County, Texas to the late Joe Harris and Eunice (Courtney) Mettlen, and died Monday, December 7, 2015 at her residence. Ms. Miranda had resided in Diboll most of her life. She retired from Temple Inland. She enjoyed fishing, camping and sitting beside a campfire, being in the outdoors, and quilting with her sister and niece. She loved being with her family, and lived for her grandchildren. Ms. Miranda was of the Baptist faith. Survivors include her daughter, Connie Moreno of Diboll; sons and daughters-in-law, Pat and Lori Hugg of Redland and Paul and Diane Hugg of Pennsylvania; grandchildren, Carlos Moreno, Jr. and wife Morgan Beckham Moreno, Monica Moreno, Matthew Moreno, Dillion Hugg, Justina Gee, and Kyle Hugg; great-granddaughter, Kylie Moreno; sister, Virginia Norris of Diboll; twin sister, Katy Pittman of Diboll; and a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Etta Jennings, Joyce Culver, Annabelle Mettlen, and JoAnn McCarty; and brother, Cecil Mettlen. Pallbearers will be Phil Clark, Donald Coulter, James Burns, Chris Hensley, Freddy Hensley, and Jamey Skoug. Honorary pallbearers will be Daniel Oliver, Carlos Moreno, Jr., Matthew Moreno, and Rusty Skoug. Memorial contributions may be made to Heart to Heart Hospice, 209 Christie Street, Lufkin, Texas 75904, or any cancer research organization. The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday evening at the funeral home.
