Funeral services for Billy Bruce Jackson, 93, of Lufkin will be held Wednesday, December 9, 2015, at 2:00 p.m. at Lufkin’s First United Methodist Church with Dr. Jerome Brimmage and Simon Purvis officiating. Interment will follow in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park.

Mr. Jackson was born October 2, 1922, in Hopkins County, Texas to the late Effie Lou (Skinner) and Exer Jackson. He joined the Lord Monday, December 7, 2015, in a local hospital.

Mr. Jackson served in the U.S. Air Force as an officer during World War II, and retired as a Captain after seven years of service. He worked for Perry Brothers, starting as a stock boy and retiring as President and CEO at the age of 65. Mr. Jackson, better known as Brother Billy, rededicated his life to Christ at the age of 45. Later, he became a Chaplain. He served the Lord with his many Christian organizations including a prison ministry and The Gideons. He served as Chaplain at Memorial Medical Center for 20 years, and retired in May 2015. Brother Billy is known for spreading God’s word on a daily basis. He also held weekly Bible studies in his home.

He is survived by his wife of 72 years, Anita Marie (Thurman) Jackson of Lufkin; children, Brenda Kay (Jackson) and H.C. Walker of Lufkin, Ronald Keith and Gayle Jackson of Pollok, and Ricky Lynn and Annette Jackson of Palestine; grandchildren, Bruce Walker, Leigh Speer, Rhonda Bellm, Beth Carr, Jennifer Bayens, and Kevin Jackson; and great-grandchildren, Lauren Walker, Kristen Carr, Taylor Walker, Andrew Moraida, Lindsay Speer, Kade Carr, Natalie Speer, Julia Pyeatt, Aidyn Jackson, Jackson Bellm, Katherine Bellm, Kendall Jackson, Kyle Carr, and Blake Jackson.

He was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Brent Jackson Walker; and half-brother, Jerry Marlin Spencer.

Pallbearers will be Bruce Walker, Kevin Jackson, Taylor Walker, Jason Carr, Tom Bellm, and Andrew Moraida.

Honorary pallbearers will be Floyd Marsellos, Roy Carroway, Sr., Carlos Picha, and Jim Stevens.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you make a donation to your favorite charity or organization.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday evening at Carroway Funeral Home.
