J.W. "Bill" Neal

Funeral services for J.W. “Bill” Neal, 84, of Lufkin will be held Tuesday, December 8, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Don Schultheis officiating. Interment will follow in the Huntington Oddfellows Cemetery. Mr. Neal was born September 8, 1931 in San Augustine County, Texas to the late Jesse H. and Mae (Waller) Neal, and died Saturday, December 5, 2015 in Lufkin. Mr. Neal resided in Angelina County most of his life. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict, and retired from Champion Paper Mill in 1993 following 37 years of employment. Mr. Neal attended Lufkin First Church of the Nazarene. Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Mary Lynn Neal of Lufkin; brother and sister-in-law, Gerald V. and Kathy Neal of Lufkin; sister and brother-in-law, Gracie Mae and David Stone of Lufkin; sisters-in-law, LaWanna Gainer, Charlotte Nowels, both of Huntington, and Mildred Neal of Lufkin; a number of nieces and nephews; and a host of friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Harlan Neal, Lee Roy Neal, Rolan Neal and Medford Earl Neal; and sister, Bonnie Sue Smith. Pallbearers will be Mr. Neal’s nephews. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice in the Pines, 1504 W. Frank Avenue, Lufkin, Texas 75904, or the Lufkin First Church of the Nazarene Memorial Fund, 1604 S. Medford Drive, Lufkin, Texas 75901. The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Monday evening at the funeral home.
