Nancy Carol (Hopper) Doyle

Funeral services for Nancy Carol Hopper Doyle, 74, of Lufkin will be held Saturday, December 5, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Bob Owen and Joe Ragan officiating. Interment will follow in the Aldredge Cemetery. Ms. Doyle was born November 18, 1941 in Lufkin, Texas to parents, Irvin W. Hopper and Norma E. Dunn Hopper who lived in Clawson, Texas. She passed away on Saturday, November 28, 2015 in Temple. Ms. Doyle attended school in Texas City and Houston, graduating from Sam Houston HS in 1959. She received a BBS in Office Administration from Angelina College in 1997. Ms. Doyle worked at Lufkin Federal Savings & Loan for over 20 years. She later was the Secretary for the Liberal Arts Division of Angelina College for 10 years. Ms. Doyle was a Christian & worshiped with her brothers & sisters in Christ at Dunn’s Chapel Church of Christ. Her great-grandfather, Thomas Jefferson Dunn, was the first minister of the church in the late 1800s & she served the church faithfully & had a strong love for the Lord, which she instilled into her family. She was a loving mother & grandmother & a devoted friend. She was an avid letter writer & card sender. She truly loved people & wanted to hear all about your family & how you were doing so spending two hours talking to her when you came across her shopping in town was not unusual. Education was of the utmost importance to her, she was a seeker of knowledge, especially of the Lord & His Word, & she supported the desire to never stop learning. She was a giver until her last days, surprising her children with early Christmas presents when we were celebrating her recent birthday. Survivors include her brother Richard Hopper of Richardson, sister-in-law, Jo Hopper of Dallas, sister-in-law, Julie Hopper of Mercer, PA; daughter & son-in-law, Janet & Russell Grubbs of Nacogdoches; son & daughter-in-law, Randy & Denise Doyle of Pflugerville; daughter, Rhonda Edmond of Galveston; daughter & son-in-law, Jennifer & Doug Boone of Temple; grandchildren, John Hill, Billy Doyle, Trey Doyle-Edmond, Karissa Boone, JennaKate Boone, Ian Boone, Jeremy and Elizabeth Fisher, Jason and Jenny Fisher; great-grandchildren, Jaydon Schmidt, Marley Fisher, Ethan Fisher; special “sister” friends Mavis Arrington of 60 years & Kathy Gaulden; and a number of nieces, nephews, cousins, other family members & friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Joann Hopper, brothers Max D. Hopper and I. Daniel Hopper & special “sister” friend, Barbara Cole. Pallbearers will be Russell Grubbs, Doug Boone, John Hill, Trey Doyle-Edmond, Ron Naramore, and Lee Musick. Honorary pallbearers will be Ian Boone and Billy Doyle. The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. Saturday morning at the funeral home.
