Funeral services for Floyd Collier Maddux, 89, of Huntington will be held Monday, November 30, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Brother D.R. McNaughton officiating. Interment will follow in the Simpson Cemetery. Mr. Maddux was born December 17, 1925 in Alto, Texas to the late Harlon Buford and Viola Ida (Collier) Maddux and went to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, November 26, 2015 in a Lufkin hospital. Mr. Maddux resided in Angelina County most of his life. He was a Sergeant in the United States Army Air Corps where he was stationed in the Philippines during World War II and served as a tail gunner. A self-made business man, he was a visible and active member of the Lufkin and surrounding area community. He worked hard his whole life with varied and successful business ventures, including Lufkin T.V. Magnavox, Nash Auto, Lufkin Pawn, and Maddux Commercial Building Rentals. He opened four of the first Dairy Queens in Lufkin. He donated land toward the building of the Texas District United Pentecostal Church Campgrounds. Floyd always put 100% into everything he worked at, and he was a loving, devoted husband, father, and grandfather who will be greatly missed. Survivors include his loving wife of almost 64 years, LaMerl (Thompson) Maddux of Huntington; sons and daughters-in-law, Floyd Daniel and Aline Maddux of Lufkin and Michael C. and Rhonda Maddux of Huntington; sister, Beverly Dean Madden of Lufkin; grandchildren, Ashley, Jamie, Kenny, Chris, Jaclyn, Shannon, Mattelynn, and Thomas; twelve great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; also numerous other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Patricia Carrington Maddux and six siblings. Pallbearers will be Buford “Butch” Maddux, Doug Maddux, Jimmy Chemeleski, Andy House, Chris Maddux, and Flint Thompson. Honorary pallbearer will be Jack “Bud” Maddux. The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Sunday evening at the funeral home.
