Arvil T. Johnson

Funeral services for Arvil T. Johnson, 93, of Lufkin will be held Monday, November 16, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Clayton McClendon officiating. Interment will follow in the Mt. Hope Cemetery. Mr. Johnson was born March 17, 1922 in Nacogdoches, Texas to the late Henry Lawson and Vellea (Byrd) Johnson and died Friday, November 13, 2015 in Lufkin. Mr. Johnson resided in Lufkin most of his life. He served in the United States Army and is a veteran of World War II. He later worked for Lufkin industries where he retired after twenty-five years. He was an ordained minister of the Pentecostal faith. Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Ray and Judy Johnson of Lufkin; grandchildren, Michael and Tracy Johnson, Kelly and Shalana Hyde, Larry and Kay Bailey, Denise and Steve Bridges, Johnny and Bonita Davidson, Richard and Shawn Davidson, and Karen and Jerry Atkins; brother and sister-in-law, James A. and Leta Johnson of Nacogdoches; a number of great and great-great grandchildren, other relatives, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife of 73 years, Virgie Mae (Caples) Johnson; son, Michael Johnson; daughter, Linda Johnson Davidson; and granddaughter, Missy Johnson. Pallbearers will be Mickey Johnson, Kelly Hyde, Kevin Strickland, Gary Johnson, Robert Luce, and Dwain Modisette. The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Monday afternoon at the funeral home.
