Marjorie Solley Bailey

Funeral services for Marjorie Solley Bailey, 84, of Lufkin will be held Saturday, November 14, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Steve Cowart and Bro. Horace Fletcher officiating. Interment will follow in the Arnold Cemetery in Cherokee County. Mrs. Bailey was born September 7, 1931 in Cherokee County, Texas to the late William George “Dewey” and Sudie Mae (Bevill) Solley and died Wednesday, November 11, 2015 in a local hospital. Mrs. Bailey resided in Lufkin since 1948. She worked in telephone sales for many years for Montgomery Ward and Sears; later as Parts Manager for Sears Service Department. She also worked at STEP – Senior Texans Employment Program at the Texas Workforce Commission. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother. She loved the holidays; cooking and having her family together. Mrs. Bailey was a member of Trinity Baptist Church. She will be greatly missed by her immediate family; daughter and son–in-law, Cyndi and Larry Baker; granddaughters, Erin and Abby Baker all of Lufkin; grandson, Rodney Jones and wife Lisa; great-granddaughter, Gretchen Jones all of Dallas; great-grandson, Stellan Burnette-Kendrick and his mother Sarah Burnette of Lufkin. Other survivors are her daughters, Lesa Kendrick and Patti Bridges; granddaughters, Jessica Kendrick and Hannah Moore; grandson, Jacob Kendrick; and great-granddaughter, Gracie Moore all of Lufkin. She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Mildred Morris, Maurice Miles, and Mary “Bill” Morgan Berryman; brother, Carl Ray Solley; and nephew, Dewey K. Morgan. Pallbearers will be her great nephews, Craig Morgan, Byron Morgan, Scotty Morgan, John Hannah, Chase Hannah, and Dayton Jones. Special thanks to Dr. Kyle Krohn, the staff of Woodland Heights, Texas Home Health Nursing Staff, and Angelina Home Health Provider Service. The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home.
