Funeral services for Jeanette Davis, 77, of Lufkin will be held Tuesday, October 27, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Rick Williams officiating. Interment will follow in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park. Mrs. Davis was born July 10, 1938 in Shelby County, Texas to the late Leon and Nedra (Alexander) Tillman, and died Sunday, October 25, 2015 in a local hospital. Mrs. Davis resided in Lufkin most of her life. She was married to her high school sweetheart, Joe H. Davis, for 59 years. Together they have three children, six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. A devoted wife, loving mother and grandmother, Mrs. Davis enjoyed being with her family the most. When she wasn’t cooking for her family or organizing family gatherings, she could always be found supporting her children and grandchildren in everything they did. She enjoyed working in her flower gardens, and especially liked spending time at Lake Jacksonville - a lifelong family gathering spot - and drinking morning coffee on the porch with her husband observing the livestock and wildlife. Mrs. Davis was a member of Herty Baptist Church. Survivors include her husband, Joe H. Davis of Lufkin; daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Dan Teer and Brenda and Glenn Sullivan, all of Lufkin; son and daughter-in-law, Joe H. “Bubba”, Jr. and Lee Ann Davis of Lufkin; grandchildren, Chad and Amanda Teer of Nacogdoches, Joseph and Rebekah Davis of Lufkin, Lesa Teer of College Station, Tyler and Lacey Sullivan of Rusk, Kaylee Sullivan and Callie Davis, both of Lufkin; great-grandchildren, Travis and Parker Teer of Nacogdoches and Joshua, Lily and Ruger Davis of Lufkin; sister and brother-in-law, Shirley and Johnny Jackson of Lufkin; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Leon and Nedra Tillman and sister and brother-in-law, Mary Louise “Sissy” and Elton Ray Adams. Pallbearers will be Dan Teer, Glenn Sullivan, Chad Teer, Tyler Sullivan, Joseph Davis and Johnny Jackson. Honorary pallbearers will be Johnny Davis, Jim Alexander, Danny Adams and Jay Jackson. Memorial contributions may be made to Herty Baptist Church, 2914 Atkinson Drive, Lufkin, Texas 75901, or a charity of your choice. The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Monday evening at the funeral home.
