Funeral services for Lee Roy Terry, 92, of Lufkin will be held Sunday, October 25, 2015 at 4:30 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Chaplain Dwayne Thornton officiating. Mr. Terry was born November 24, 1922 in Centralia, Texas to the late Edna (Eddington) and Albert S. Terry, Sr., and died Thursday, October 22, 2015 in a local nursing home. Mr. Terry resided in Lufkin most of his life. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and received a Bronze Star for his service in the Battle of Iwo Jima. Mr. Terry retired from the Reliable Life Insurance Co. He was a cattleman and enjoyed horseback riding and going to the farm. Mr. Terry was a member of the First United Methodist Church Lufkin. Survivors include his daughter, Frances Tucker and husband Troy of Lufkin; son, David Terry of Lufkin; grandsons, Justin Terry and wife Heather and Jake Terry and wife Paige, all of Huntington; great-grandchildren, Tori Terry, Gage Terry, Gunner Terry and Harlyn Terry, all of Huntington; sister, Mary Lee Taylor of Lufkin; brother, Albert S. Terry, Jr. and wife Doris of Apple Springs; and a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mary Elizabeth (Buchanan) Terry; and sisters, Edwina Terry Finley and Vernece Terry Parrott. Memorial contributions may be made to Heart to Heart Hospice, 209 Christie Street, Lufkin, Texas 75904. The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 3:00 to 4:30 p.m. Sunday afternoon prior to the services.
