Jannie Florence Choate

Funeral services for Jannie Florence (Weisinger) Choate, 82, of Huntington will be held Wednesday, October 21, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel in Huntington with Pastor Don Schultheis officiating. Interment will follow in the Huntington Cemetery.

Mrs. Choate was born June 6, 1933 in Lufkin Texas to the late Ovell Calvin and Audie (Jones) Weisinger and died Friday, October 16, 2015 in Lufkin.

Mrs. Choate had resided in Huntington for over twenty years; she was a former resident of Galveston. She worked for Huntington I.S.D. for a period of time and enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and needle point work. Her passion was in being a devoted minister’s wife in the Nazarene faith to her late husband, Kirby Choate, for over twenty-seven years. She would often play the piano for him during services. Together, they ministered in many churches across the United States. Mrs. Choate was also a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was a member of Lufkin First Church of the Nazarene.

Survivors include her son, John Choate and wife Marilyn of Huntington; daughter, Joanna Richey and husband Raymond of Harlingen; sister, Annie Brown of Pearland; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Luther and Lois James of Baytown and Nancy and Calvin Green of Lake Fork; granddaughters, Rhonda Barron and husband Joe and Melanie Cropper and husband Justin; grandsons, Andrew Richey and wife Priscilla, Matthew Richey, and Noah Michael Edger; great-grandchildren, Logan and Skylar Barron, and Jayleigh Noel Waller; also numerous other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Kirby Choate; brothers, Albert Weisinger, Joe Bob Weisinger, Ernest Weisinger, and Hugo Weisinger.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
