Funeral services for Gwen O’Quinn Atteberry, 66, of Pollok will be held Tuesday, October 13, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Loyd Thurman and Brother Roger McClure officiating. Interment will follow in the Whitehouse Cemetery. Mrs. Atteberry was born June 13, 1949 in Lufkin, Texas to the late Cleo and Mamie (Modisette) O’Quinn, and died Friday, October 9, 2015 in a local hospital. Mrs. Atteberry was a lifetime resident of Pollok. She retired from the Lufkin State Supported Living Center after 36 years of employment. She enjoyed collecting cookbooks and cooking for people. Mrs. Atteberry was a member of the Victory Assembly of God and she enjoyed being involved in the church outreach programs. Survivors include her husband of 37 years, Jim Atteberry of Pollok; daughter and son-in-law, Jessica and Peyton Paulette of Nacogdoches; daughters, Janet Atteberry and Jean Donald, both of California; grandson, Zakk Donald of California; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Betty and Ricky Sammons of Huntington; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives, as well as friends and an untold number of kids she helped raise. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister and brother-in-law, Jean and Charles King. Pallbearers will be Kyle Davis, Chad Wells, Jason Thacker, Pat Slomba, Cory Denman and Kyle Gilmore. Memorial contributions may be made to the Victory Assembly of God Building Fund, 1405 S. Chestnut Street, Lufkin, Texas 75901. The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday evening at the funeral home.
