Funeral services for Donna Ann Hart, 63, of Lufkin will be held Friday, October 9, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Taliah Vander Leest officiating. Interment will follow in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park. Mrs. Hart was born August 6, 1952 in Houston, Texas to Nancy Ellen (Donnel) Gibbs and the late Don Anson Gibbs and passed away on Sunday, October 4, 2015 of natural causes in a Houston hospital. Mrs. Hart was a long time resident of Angelina County, and a former resident of the Houston area. A gifted young child in music on the piano, she played classical pieces by the age of six. Though she fought a battle with Alzheimer’s her last six years, it never took away her ability to play the piano. She attended schools in Pasadena, Texas and in 1970 graduated from Sam Rayburn High School. She then went on to graduate from Stephen F. Austin State University in 1975 with a Bachelor of Science Degree. She taught Elementary students in the Houston area before relocating to Lufkin I.S.D., Slack Elementary Campus, where she retired after teaching twenty years. She was a born-again Christian and a member of Lufkin First Assembly. Survivors include her sons, Jonathan Hart and wife Maribel of Houston, Richard Hart and wife Kimberly of Bossier City, Louisiana, and Nathan Hart of California; mother, Nancy Gibbs of Lufkin; grandson, Hayden Phoenix Hart and granddaughter, Hannah Hart; sister, Lenora Gibbs of California; special friends, Arlene and Charlie Gates; and numerous other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her father, Don A. Gibbs; half-sister, Marcelle Gibbs; and nephew, David Swanson. Pallbearers will be Richard Hart, Nathan Hart, Jonathan Hart, Justin Anderson, Matthew Dunn, and James Scott. The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday evening at the funeral home.
