Funeral services for Veta Faye Griffith Dungan, 99, of Lufkin will be held Monday, October 5, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at the Zion Hill Missionary Baptist Church in Rusk County with Reverend Glenn Ray Griffith officiating. Interment will follow in the Zion Hill Cemetery in Rusk County.
Mrs. Dungan was born September,12 1916 in Henderson, Texas to the late Minnie Minker (Nelson) and Aaron Greer Griffith and died Friday, October 2, 2015 in Huntington.
Mrs. Dungan had resided in Lufkin. She was a Beautician and the owner of Faye’s Beauty Shop in Waskom. She loved to sew, crochet, and cook. She was a member of the Eastern Star in Bay City and the Lady Elks in Longview. Mrs. Dungan attended the Fuller Springs Missionary Baptist Church.
Survivors include her sons, Guy Smith and wife Annie of New Orleans and Michael Coston and wife Debbie of Houma, Louisiana; daughters, Sue Brawley and husband Don of Lufkin, Carolyn Collins of LaPorte, and Josephine Smith and husband Gary of Highlands; granddaughters, Cindy Green, Tyger Coston, Nancy Smith, Rebecca Collins, Juliana Quail, Gwen Hill, and Cheryl Ibarra and husband Rob; grandsons, Michael Coston, John Foster Smith II and wife Amy, J.T Smith, Scott Brawley, Steve Brawley and wife Kim, and Doug Brawley and wife Tami; numerous great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, A.E. Dungan.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice.
The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Sunday evening at the funeral home.
