Funeral services for Lola Will Taylor, 95, of Lufkin will be held Wednesday, September 23, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Aubrey Knox officiating. Interment will follow in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park. Mrs. Taylor was born August 31, 1920 in Manning, Texas to the late Lola Agnes (Gray) and William Monroe Powell and died Saturday, September 19, 2015 at a local hospital. Mrs. Taylor grew up in Manning, Texas. She spent many years in Lufkin with her grandparents, Walker and Sally Gray before making Lufkin her home. Mrs. Taylor attended Austin High School in Austin, Texas and returned to Lufkin High School to graduate at the age of fifteen. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, a devoted Sunday School teacher for over fifty years and a long time member of Lufkin’s First Baptist Church. In addition, Mrs. Taylor was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law, Robert L. “Butch” Taylor and wife Mary Jo, and Joseph K. Taylor and wife Janet; grandchildren, Lindsay Taylor and wife Garion, Randall Taylor and wife Cinda, Steve Taylor and wife Stacy, Matt Taylor and wife Kristian, Beth Guinn and husband Wes; great-grandchildren, Zach and Jay Taylor, Wes and Mollie Taylor, Corey and Nikki Taylor, Colby, and Blake Taylor, Peyton and Ella Taylor, and Caroline and Claire Guinn; sister-in-law, Mary Nell Taylor; numerous nieces, nephews, and other family members. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of sixty-seven years, Robert L. “Bob” Taylor; son, William “Bill” Gray Taylor; grandson, Charles M. Taylor; brothers, William H. Powell, Robert Gray Powell, and Gilman Powell; sister, Mary L. Jensen. Pallbearers will be Lindsay Taylor, Randall Taylor, Jeff Taylor, Scott Taylor, Steve Taylor, and Matt Taylor. Honorary pallbearers will be John Lee Slaughter, Glen Oliver, David Rusk, Buck Waida, Don Duran. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Capital Campaign at Lufkin’s First Baptist Church, 106 East Bremond, Lufkin, texas 75901, or the charity of your choice. The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
