Mary Alice Burch Fouche

Funeral services for Mary Alice Burch Fouche, 95, of Lufkin will be held Thursday, August 27, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at the Elwyn M. Gipson Memorial Chapel in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park with Reverend Bobby Whisenant officiating. Interment will follow the services.

Mrs. Fouche was born May 15, 1920 in Fort Worth, Texas to the late Robert L. and Lillian Fay (Bannister) Burch, and died Monday, August 24, 2015 in Lufkin where she had resided for the past 21 years.

Mrs. Fouche was of the Methodist faith and reared her children in the Garden Villas Methodist Church in Houston, teaching Sunday school, VBS, and was an active member of the Methodist Women’s Guild. Years later she transferred her membership to First United Methodist Church Lufkin.

Mrs. Fouche was honored and recognized by the Houston Methodist Hospital Auxiliary for her volunteer work for over 20 years. The “Wednesday Book Bunch” carried a mobile library cart to patients’ rooms, bringing smiles and hugs. There were no Kindles or Ipads!!

Survivors include her husband of 75 years, Martin “Dub” Fouche of Lufkin; son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Carolyn Cowan of Corrigan; daughters and son-in-law, Jacqueline Moad of Fort Worth and Judy and Terry Carlton of Groveton; grandchildren and their spouses, Martin and Judy Moad, Andy and Deann Moad, all of Fort Worth, Chris and Jardan Moad of Carrollton, Clint and Cathy Cowan of San Antonio, Nancy Cowan Clamon of Pflugerville, Terry, Jr. and Phyllis Carlton of Lufkin, Jeremy and Stephanie Cowan, and Jason and Michele Cowan, all of Corrigan; 14 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents; grandson, Gary Cowan; brother, Bob Burch; and son-in-law, Clarence Moad.

Pallbearers will be Martin Moad, Andy Moad, Chris Moad, Clint Cowan, Terry Carlton, Jr., Jeremy Cowan and Jason Cowan.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice in the Pines, 1504 W. Frank Avenue, Lufkin, Texas 75904.

The family is forever grateful for the loving care provided for our wife and mother by caretakers Mary Dell Stanley, Johnnie Mae Boston, and Katie Fabro, R.N.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Thursday afternoon prior to the services.
